Emma Thornberry

Emma Thornberry is the singing coach at Starlight Academy. Emma is a music and religion post prinary teacher outside of Starlight, and has always had a passion for performance! Emma has completed her diploma in musical theatre. Emma teaches 1:1 classes at Starlight but also pops in to group classes to get everybody singing! In class, she begins with warm ups that help the students’ breathing, pronunciation and vocal agility. Emma has recently incoprporated music theory into each class, which helps with reading music, singing and writing notation. These are amazing skills to have, especially if the student is doing music in secondary school. Emma works her way up to teaching the students songs that they like, which are then approved by Starlight and are performed at showcases, competitions and displays. There is a real symbiosis between singing and dancing which makes the student a true performer. Emma recommends that all dancers should learn to sing!
